Land Disturbance Permit

ICAR_RdC_Box_Culvert_42410 002

Land disturbance permits require inspections for conformance to approved plans, specifications, the approved Sediment and Erosion Control Plan or compliance with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) regulations/Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).

Letter of Coverage (SCDHEC)
A pre-construction meeting is required on some sites due to the size and scope. If your site was issued a Letter of Coverage from SCDHEC, a pre-construction conference is required before obtaining a land disturbance permit and any land disturbing activities begin. Check your permit requirements and contact Construction Inspection to schedule a pre-construction meeting by calling 864-467-8890.

Other Site Components
Public infrastructure such as construction of sewer mains or public streets may comprise a part of the work covered under the land disturbance permit. Since these features will become public infrastructure components they receive a higher degree of inspection and testing to insure compliance with City, State or Federal specifications as well as City construction standards. Contractors will need to coordinate these more detailed inspections with the assigned project inspector as failure to obtain required inspections may result in rejected work.
