Pedestrian Safety Study

The City of Greenville has partnered with Stantec Consulting Services to study pedestrian safety and develop a plan that reduces the number of crashes and near misses involving pedestrians. In June 2021, City Council amended the upcoming year's budget to set aside $250,000 specifically for this study.

This study will focus on high-volume corridors and school zones and provide the basis for prioritization and implementation of safety measures. It will pinpoint proactive steps that will improve pedestrian safety and result in a prioritized list of project recommendations.

Summary sheets will be written for the locations identified through the prioritization process. The City will develop a list of high-priority safety improvement projects, identifying projects that are eligible and competitive for federal, state, or other safety funding.”

The City also hosted a drop-in style open house on May 3, 2022, where City staff and the project consultants will share information about the project and residents can ask questions and provide feedback.
